POSITIONING THE PATIENT Position the patient in the headrest. If necessary move the table up or down so the patient is comfortable with the switch on the right side of the table. The chin rest can be moved up or down by loosening the screws holding it to the vertical bars, moving it and retightening the screws. Have them turn their head to prevent the nose from creating a shadow and patch the opposite eye if necessary. Have them fixate the fixation light in the center of the rings. If they have a low upper lid which blocks a significant part of the upper portion of the pattern, have an assistant gently hold the upper lid up with a cotton-tipped applicator being careful not to put pressure on the cornea.
